Pitchers And Catchers Hit Port Charlotte

It was still dark when pitcher Jacob Faria got to the Rays complex in Port Charlotte Sunday.

After he and lefty Blake Snell showed up in the late morning last season on report day and drawing the ire of Opening Day starter Chris Archer, the right-hander made sure that he didn't make the same mistake again.

"I got here so early that the clubhouse guys weren't even here yet, and all the doors were locked," Faria told me Monday laughing.  "So I went and got breakfast and when I got back, the clubbies had just gotten here and unlocked the doors."

POSITION PLAYERS FILTERING IN: A number of position players have also decided to report to camp Monday.  Outfielders Corey Dickers, Steven Souza Jr., and Mallex Smith, along with infielders Willy Adames and Daniel Robertson were all in Port Charlotte.

KALAS MAKES FINAL APPEARANCE : Former Rays TV broadcaster Todd Kalas also made an appearance at Charlotte Sports Park Monday.  Kalas is continuing to work calling USF Bulls basketball games until his first game with the Astros on February 28.
